2.5kg Sif No.27 2.4mm 5356 Aluminium Tig Welding Rods
Data Sheets:
Product Description
2.5KG SIF NO.27 2.4MM 5356 ALUMINIUM TIG WELDING RODS
SIFAlumin No.27 TIG Rods are high-performance, general-purpose aluminium welding rods containing approximately 5% magnesium, providing excellent corrosion resistance combined with high mechanical strength. They are specifically developed for welding magnesium-bearing aluminium alloys and a wide range of structural and heat-treatable grades.
These rods are ideally suited for joining alloys such as 5251 (N4), 5154 (N5), 5454 (N51), and popular structural grades including 6063 (H9), 6061 (H20), and 6082 (H30). Their balanced chemistry also makes them suitable for welding dissimilar aluminium alloys with magnesium content up to 5%.
SIFAlumin No.27 rods can be used for both TIG and oxy-acetylene welding. When oxy-acetylene welding, the use of Sif No.36 aluminium brazing and welding flux is recommended to ensure clean welds and optimum flow.
Key Features and Benefits:
5% magnesium content for high strength and excellent corrosion resistance
Suitable for TIG and oxy-acetylene welding processes
Compatible with a wide range of magnesium-bearing and heat-treatable aluminium alloys
Ideal for components that will be anodised after welding
Suitable for plate, pipe, tube, castings, and general fabrication work
Typical Applications include structural fabrications, pressure pipework, marine and transport components, and general aluminium repair and manufacturing where strength, corrosion resistance, and appearance are critical.
Welding Positions:
Suitable for use in all welding positions, except vertical down.
Material to be Welded:
Suitable for welding both forged and cast aluminium-manganese and aluminium-magnesium alloys, including the joining of dissimilar aluminium grades with a magnesium content of up to 5%. The rods are also appropriate for components that are to be anodised after welding, delivering clean, consistent welds with good colour match.
Depending on material thickness and section size, pre-heating up to 120°C may be required. To achieve optimum weld quality, wire brushing between passes is recommended to remove surface oxide build-up. The parent material should always be thoroughly cleaned and fully degreased prior to welding. Suitable for use on plate, pipe, tube, and general aluminium components.
